New Cubicle for Piglets

Floors: These should consist of solid concrete well insulated lying areas and not too smooth defecating areas.
Bedding: A minimum amount can be used or the lying areas can be deep bedded. The manure in the solid dunging area should be removed three times per week. This area should also be well drained.
Water: This must only be provided in the dunging area either by a nipple drinker, bowl or trough. If water is placed in the feeding troughs sows tend to defecate and urinate in the lying areas resulting in lameness, sores on the feet and legs and a predisposition to leg weakness.
Feeding: Feed is put into the trough once daily. Feed levels required may be higher than in stalls to satisfy the sow’s environmental requirements.

Cubicle for Sows

Do you work in an office with a partially enclosed space, commonly known as a cubicle, also called an office cube.
A cubicle is a common expression place for pigs on a farm. Warm and draught-free environment for piglets and cubicle should be easy to clean.
Pigs are clean: The natural behaviour of pigs is to sleep in one place, eat in another and go to the toilet in a third some metres away from their resting area.
Pigs are social: Pigs are social beings that prefer to be with other individuals. This is seen already in the newborn stage where the piglets huddle together with their littermates, but also when older sows prefer to lie next to each other.
Pigs are active and curious: The pig is an active animal with a clear diurnal pattern. They spend 10-12 hours of the day sleeping and a large part of the day is spent seeking for feed and rooting around the ground.
